Dermatologist Dr. Nicole Owens Joins Specialty Clinic 2 on July 2nd

Dr. Nicole Owens is a board-certified dermatologist and retired Army colonel.  She is the former director of Air Force and Army dermatology training in San Antonio. While at Brooke Army Medical Center, Dr. Owens served as the residency program director, clinic chief, director of the phototherapy unit and patch/skin allergy testing clinic. During the height of the Iraq War, she served in Baghdad as the sole dermatologist and Army dermatology consultant in Iraq and Afghanistan.

 “We are extremely fortunate to have a physician with Dr. Owens’ credentials to provide dermatologic care for our patients in Medina County,” said Medina Healthcare System CEO Janice Simons.

Dr. Owens will be joining the specialist group for Medina Healthcare System on July 2nd and will be located in the Specialty Clinic 2 at 610 31st St in Hondo.  Her clinic hours will be the 1st Thursday of each month. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Owens,  please call 210-836-7586.

 In addition to her impressive military career, Dr. Owen is currently one of eight dermatologists selected nationwide to serve on the American College of Graduate Medical Education’s accreditation body for national dermatology residency training programs.  She was also selected in 2012 to be the chair of the national committee for a three-year term. Dr. Owen was named one of America’s top dermatologists each year from 2011-2014, has received Vitals People’s Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Award and Top Ten Award. Dr. Owens has extensive experience managing skin cancer patients and patients with complex and difficult to treat skin, hair and nail disorders.
