Provides respiratory therapy modalities to patients in accordance with a
physicians order and hospital policies and procedures. Provides diagnostic tests on
patients in accordance with a physicians order and hospital policies and procedures.
Prepares and administers various respiratory therapy treatment modalities, such as
medication nebulizer treatments by small volume and large volume nebulizer, chest
percussion, and postural drainage, incentive spirometry, intermittent positive pressure
breathing, breathing exercises, diaphragmatic breathing, sputum induction, nasal tracheal
aspiration, arterial puncture, oxygen administration by mask, cannula or oxy hood,
initiation of mechanical ventilation and bipap and maintenance of ventilation; performing
pulmonary function testing, cardiac exercise testing, Holter and cardiac event monitoring.
Collection of data in compliance with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement
Plans, and any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Education: Bachelors degree related to respiratory therapy; or one year certificate
from college or technical school.
Experience: Six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Special Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and ability to work compatibly as a
team member with physicians and other staff members.
License Required: Registered or Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care,
current CPR certification, and current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification.
