Kellie Schulte Receives Pillar Award for Excellence

Medina Healthcare System is proud to announce that Kellie Schulte, Director of Patient Financial Services, was recently recognized with a Pillar Award by the Methodist Center for Leadership Excellence (MCLE).  The award was announced at the May MCLE meeting at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Kevin Frosch, Chief Financial Officer at Medina Healthcare System says, “Kellie has worked diligently to grow her leadership skills, as evidenced by her selection for this award.”  Frosch adds that he nominated her for the award because of her strengths in achieving success in the following Pillars of Excellence:
People :  Under her leadership, Kellie has engaged her departments and achieved 100%  participation in the annual employee engagement survey.  The Patient Access department scored 97% and the Business Office showed an improvement in participation by 30% over last year.
Service:  
Ms. Schulte led the Performance Improvement team to decrease waiting times for registration to less than 5 minutes.
Community:
Ms. Schulte is a volunteer with the Hondo Athletic Boosters Association and has been selected as an officer for the 2016-17 school year.  The group helps raise funds and provide support for local athletic facility and equipment needs.

Kellie Schulte joined the team at Medina Healthcare System in March 2011 as the Director of Patient Financial Services.  She supervises a staff of 24, including the employees of the Patient Financial Services (billing/collections) and the Patient Access (patient registration) departments.  

“We are very proud of Kellie and the improvements she has made in the Patient Financial Services areas,” said Medina Healthcare CEO Janice Simons.  “Thanks to our partnership with Methodist Healthcare, our staff has access to high quality leadership training workshops, which result in better services to the community and better care for our patients,” adds Simons.
