Billie Bell receives Essence of Leadership Award

Billie Bell, Vice President of Operations of Medina Regional Hospital, Honored
by TORCH for Leadership Achievement

AUSTIN, TEXAS (September 28, 2016) — The Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals (TORCH) announced that Billie Bell, Vice President of Operations of Medina Regional Hospital, was the recipient of the Essence of Leadership Award at their 10th Annual TORCH Leadership & Management Institute Awards.

“TORCH is proud to put the spotlight on Billie Bell, Vice President of Operations, at Medina Regional Hospital, for her hard work and dedication to rural health,” said David Pearson, president and CEO of TORCH. “Her leadership has ensured that Medina Regional Hospital is known for its stellar reputation, and unsurpassed quality and service in the community.”

The Essence of Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, service and contribution in healthcare, and who has made a significant impact in his or her organization and community.

Bell was nominated as she embodies the spirit of teamwork and the organization’s mission in delivering quality care close to home.  She has worked diligently to advance the Emergency Department stroke system and the use of the robot and telemedicine to improve care in Medina County.  She works tirelessly to educate the community and does so through speaking opportunities at local Chamber meetings, Rotary Club, and the Lion’s Club. Janice Simons, CEO of Medina Regional Hospital, was thrilled to hear that Bell had been selected as the annual award winner.  “Billie embodies the essence of leadership, initiative, and volunteerism,” said Simons.  “She is dedicated to patient safety, life-long learning and giving back to the community.  She is very deserving of this honor.”

The award was presented during the 2016 TORCH Leadership & Management Institute awards luncheon held on September 15 in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
